Déi schéinst Woch am Joer

Every year, at the end of May, something happens in Luxembourg that defies all logic. Thousands of football fans take sick days, cancel plans and make a pilgrimage across the country to watch amateur teams battle it out in a single do-or-die match on neutral ground. It is not the cup final. It is not the championship decider. It is the relegation week. And for those who know, it is the best week of the year.
For years, we had celebrated this week from the outside looking in - as fans, as romantics, as people who could not get enough of its raw energy. But we wanted more. We wanted to understand what it truly feels like to be inside the madness. How does a referee keep his composure when an entire village is screaming at him? What drives volunteers to sacrifice every free hour for a club that will never play in Europe? And what goes through a coach's mind when he knows this is his last game, no matter the result?
So we grabbed our cameras and dove in headfirst. We followed Jérémy Muller, a young UEFA referee navigating the chaos with quiet determination. We sat with Tiago and Alex at FC Jeunesse Gilsdorf, two volunteers holding an entire club together with their bare hands. And we stood alongside Gilles Wagner, the head coach of FC Käerch, as he fought for promotion in what would be his final match on the touchline. Sprinkled throughout with the unapologetic passion of the "Missioun Grottekick" crew, our documentary captures the relegation week the way it deserves to be captured - from the dressing room, to the stands, and deep into the bars.
Because this is not just football, this is community, identity and a whole lot of beer.
